"Naked Odalisque In A Hookah Young Naked Oriental Woman Nineteenth Century"
With the trip of Eugène Delacroix to Morocco in 1832, the fashion is orientalism in France and a good number of painters without making the trip, paint in their workshop oriental women: odalisques, naked slaves in the taste of the East as they imagine it. Our painter, unfortunately remained unknown, gives us here a very beautiful nude of a young woman, of perfect proportions, her head turned to the right, sitting cross-legged on an entablature covered with a cashmere shawl. To its left a hookah completes the oriental decor. Very nicely painted, our painting recalls the works of Pierre Joseph Mousset (1850-1894), a painter who has made a specialty of female nudes of orientalist inspiration. Circa 1880. Dimensions: 66 cm x 46 cm frame and 78 cm x 58 cm with its frame Good condition. Cracks. The professionally cleaned painting is ready to adorn your interior.
