Bronze bust of a woman by the French artist Léon Morice. A realistic and expressive depiction of a young woman. Léon Morice was born in 1868 in Angers in the Loire Valley, he studied at the École des Beaux Arts in Angers and also with the famous sculptor Félix Carpentier, author of many monuments in the Loire Valley and Paris. Léon Morice in the years 1888-1897 worked in his region of origin, among others at the St Louis chapel of Saumur, at the church of Brézé, and others. Deaf artist, he nevertheless obtained many successes at exhibitions in Paris, he was present at the Universal Exhibition of 1900, at the Salons des Artistes Français from 1905 to 1930 (silver medal in 1914), and at the Salon des Artistes Sourds created in 1926. After 1947, he and his son left for Spain, his date of death remains unknown. The founding workshop of this bust was the famous Parisian workshop of Alexis Rudier, created in 1874, and taken over by his son Eugene in 1897 after his death, it operated until 1952. She performed castings of the highest quality for celebrities such as Auguste Rodin, Antoine Bourdelle, Gustave Miklos, Aristide Maillol and Honoré Daumier.
