Georges A De Pogedaieff (1894-1971)

Pogédaieff studied at the Moscow School of Fine Arts and was a pupil of Zouglinsky. As a painter, he painted the portraits of many Russian and French personalities. Georges A. de Pogédaieff had an international career and exhibited in Moscow, Bucharest, Paris, Berlin, Vienna ... In 1918, Georges A. de Pogédaieff began working as a decorator at the Petrograd Theater. Between 1918 and 1919, Pogédaieff made a project for the ballet “Les masques Rouges” by Nikolai Chérépine. The performance is given at the Bolshoi Theater by Kassan Goleizovsky and it can be found in Moscow. Pogédaieff works in collaboration with Goleizovsky for the creation of a ballet scenario called "Gaméleon or the revolution will win". It was in 1921 that he made a project for the performance of “Hamlet” in Vienna and in 1922 he worked for the Cabaret Blaue Vogel “l'Oiseau Bleu” by Lascha Louchny in Berlin. During the 1950s, Pogédaieff worked for Le Chauve Souris in Paris and carried out projects such as “Le Crocodile” and “Cléopâtre et le grand guignol”. It also illustrates works of Russian writers, such: Gogol, Dostoiewsky and Tchekoff. He also designs costume projects for 'L'oiseau bbleu, Le Prince Igor, and Cyrano de Bergerac.
