Object description :

"Eros Repairing His Bow Signed Lemire, For Charles Gabriel Sauvage (1741-1827)"
A very beautiful bronze with a nuanced brown patina representing Eros busy repairing his bow, a very beautiful symbol.
this bronze is signed Lemire on the terrace at the corner and dates from the beginning of the 19th century.
charles Gabriel Sauvage signed his works like Lemire!
he was the son of a founder and became the artistic director of the manufacture of Niderviller in 1781, he then moved to the manufacture of Dihl and Guerhard etc ...
the Louvre retains some of his works including an Eros in the spirit of ours.
our cupid is very finely carved look at the face and the curls of the hair, his eyes and with what care he seems busy preparing his bow, the details of the feathers of his wings.
very nice patina and resumption of carving.
it rests on an original marble plinth adorned with a small gilded bronze frieze.
some small nuances and alterations of patina due to time in particular on one end of the foot but not very visible and without real impact, take a good look at the photos.
a very nice bronze of Eros, love, cupid with a beautiful signature from a talented artist.
dimensions: 42 cm with the terrace and 28 cm long by 12 cm deep at the base.
