"Small Curved Trunk In Walnut Veneer, Louis XIV Period."
Beautiful box in the shape of a trunk with a rounded lid, it opens onto an interior decorated with its original domino paper and equipped with a small locker with a pivoting lid and a plinth with a secret opening revealing three small secret drawers in poplar. Beautiful marquetry of interlacing, nets and foliage patterns in walnut veneer on a resinous wood core. The whole is underlined by a blackened wooden stick around the perimeter and rests on four feet with flattened balls in turned Prunus wood. Beautiful ornamentation of hinges, keyhole and lock case in brass, very beautiful openwork iron key. Work from eastern France at the end of the 17th century (Franche-Comté, Dauphiné ...) Probable restoration of the Panneton de la key. Slight old shocks on the cover, some rare worm holes. Louis XIV period.
