"Tabriz Carpet (persia)"
Tabriz (Persian) wool carpet of dimensions 3.90 x 2.70 meters. Located in the north-west of Iran, capital of Azerbaijan, Tabriz by its strategic position (fertile region, place of passage from east to west) remains a major center of carpet production and trade. . Most of the pieces executed relate to the great tradition of Persian art with floral (a central medallion included in each of the four spandrels) and sometimes animal decorations. The classic Tabriz are often large in size (2x3 m) and have great finesse of execution (400 to 600,000 stitches per m?). The wool used is resistant and shiny.
