Fanny Corr-Geefs (Brussels, 1807 - 1890): Belgian woman painter, sister of the engraver Erin Corr and pupil of François-Joseph Navez. In 1836 she married the sculptor Guillaume Geefs, a capital figure of Belgian Romanticism. She is the author of history, genre and portrait paintings. She participated in numerous exhibitions in Brussels, London, Paris and Amsterdam where she obtained several medals of honor. She receive numerous private, public or ecclesiastical commissions.

Our small portrait of expression, produced with great finesse, is signed on the right. It perfectly shows the artist's talent and predilection for female portraits. Some of his female figures will be used to illustrate two works by George Sand, Compagnon du Tour de France (1840) and La Marquise (1834). If the decoration of the frame is partly missing, the drawing is in perfect condition.
