"Curious Folk Art Object"
We present this curious object that I classify in "popular art", it is a tobacco pot in the shape of a vase, the lid is cylindrical on the rustic theme (the vine). As for the support of the body of the vase, these are cows or oxen, in any case ruminants. We should still see a conotation of the art nouveau era (1900), especially as the leaves are treated around the perimeter. The main part of this curious object is in monoxyl, as well as the cover. The interior has been hollowed out very cleanly, the rounded shapes could not be more perfect, the hollowing out was most certainly done using a wood lathe. the wood used seems to me to be sycamore. Numbers are written under both parts. Would this object have been presented in an exhibition dedicated to sculpture? This object was part and still is part of our company's collections. Very good general condition, note however a slit on the cover.
