"Spun Glass: Christ On The Cross"
Magnificent work of spun glass from the late 18th century - early 19th century. This work represents a crucifix surrounded by 6 flowers all fixed on a black velvet (velvet probably changed in the 19th century), protected by an original glass in an oval frame in gilded wood. Dimensions at sight: 10.3 cm X 14.3 cm. The frame in perfect condition, has a beautiful leaf gilding, openwork decoration of foliage, winding and a flower in the lower part, the back has a brass suspension ring closed by a dominoté blue and white checkered paier in a beautiful state of freshness. Christ made of spun glass, wearing his crown, his head tilted over his right shoulder, eyes closed, he is fixed on a cross in silk embroidery. Above his head a spun glass phylactery bearing the glass inscription: INRI. Six flowers of different colors, in spun glass also surround Christ. A small lack on the left foot (see detail photo). A relic at the feet of Christ bearing a handwritten legend in Latin. This set remains in very good condition, both the glass work and its framing.
