Oil on canvas after François Boucher, the original of this painting is in the Hamburg Museum. Romantic and idealized landscape with in the foreground a young boy fishing, a character walking away over the old wooden bridge and to the right, a dovecote from which doves escape, symbol of peace and also a representation of St. Spirit. The blue-green tones of the sky and the trees create a peaceful atmosphere. François Boucher painter of great talent in several artistic genres. He produced mythological, religious, erotic paintings, portraits and landscapes. He notably devoted a series to the Charenton mills (Quiquengrogne mill). Favorite painter of Madame de Pompadour, he made several portraits of her in a precise style. A year after the death of Madame de Pompadour, he became the king's first painter in 1765
