Object description :

"Gaston Marty : "ciudad Rodrigo In 1957""
Gaston Marty (1905-1977): “Ciudad Rodrigo 1957”, gouache 50 X 70 cm visible, mounted under museum glass by a Marie-Louise in a mahogany frame with decoration in the angles 69 X 90 cm. Gaston Marty, a true virtuoso of gouache, was a drawing teacher at the Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux and also a theater decorator. Each year he benefited from an exhibition at the Condillac Gallery which presented the gouaches brought back from his many travels, the essence of which he captured through brushes, as here, this view of Ciudad Rodrigo in the province of Salamanca, animated by peasants reporting food to the city and Good Sisters chatting in an impeccable composition punctuated by curves and diagonals.
