A bronze mirror. The reverse of the mirror is decorated with images of mythical animals (including a phoenix - the symbol of the Empress) and floral decorations. The obverse, once polished, was used for navigation. Bronze mirrors from the late Zhou Dynasty to Han, Tang, and later dynasties were popular utility items that were also decorative. Cast bronze, polished, chiseled by hand. China, Tang / Song dynasty, 7th-13th century. Diameter 13.5 cm, thickness 0.7 cm. Condition shown in photos, good. Free delivery in EU!
