Object description :

"Persian Hamadan Rug, Iran, 102 Cm X 196 Cm, Hand-knotted Wool Circa 1980, Very Good Condition"
Comfortable Hamadan rug in hand-knotted wool decorated with three large crenellated medallions, in midnight blue, placed on a very luminous red field.
Flowers and trees of life, birds and many other stylized patterns cover the entire model.
This beautiful, comfortable and spotless rug is in very good condition circa 1980, as are the edges and fringes.
The wool used is of high quality and very soft, the colors are fresh and lively, the deep red and the blue enchant the whole accompanied by orange, white and black.
The continuously patterned border picks up colors by adding, black and orange tips. Hamadan is a city in western Iran, 300 km west of Tehran.
It is one of the oldest cities in the world and it is the ancient Ecbatana, which is referred to in the book of Esther.
The city is the center of an important trade of carpets, produced in the towns and villages of the surroundings.
The best of them are marketed under their own names, such as Nahavand, Malayer ....
They are easy to recognize thanks to their typical patterns and format.
The patterns are very variable and you can find both medallion rugs and rugs with repeating patterns.
The colors are dominated by various shades of indigo blue and madder red.
Old Hamadan rugs are often very beautiful and attractive items.
This rug has been professionally cleaned and environmentally friendly.
