"Collection Dish Or Offering - Nuremberg - 16th Century"
Quest or offering dish in embossed brass decorated in its center with Renaissance-inspired motifs. The umbilicus of the dish is surrounded by a line of inscriptions. The dish is shaped by repoussé work (brassware), and embellished on the marli with stamped foliage patterns. Originally, these dishes were intended to receive the bread offerings of the faithful during Christian religious ceremonies, then over time the quest for money (which will replace those of the bread offerings intended to be consecrated). Good condition; note a small tin solder on one edge; very beautiful patina on the back of the Nuremberg dish, XVIth century. Diameter: 43.2 cm. Height: 4 cm. Delivery worldwide.
