Student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Avignon under the direction of the painter Pierre Grivolas who goes encourage his students, including Gustave Vidal, to go paint outside. He will be under the influence of the new school of Avignon and the abstract painters. His own style combines knife technique and pictorial stylization. He obtained many awards from his beginnings, and exhibited around the world.
