H. Markó was a landscape and marine painter, who dedicated his life to portraying views of the sea, Mediterranean woods and pine forests characteristic of the places where he lived, that is, between the coasts of Tuscany and Liguria.
This particular work is a small but detailed and meticulous painting, where the staging of the view is particularly scenographic and impactful, the painting is very much linked to the romantic pictorial tradition of the end of the 19th century.
The painting is carried out on a wooden board, measuring 14.4x21 cm, it is equipped with a lacquered wood frame. At the bottom left is the painter's signature, and it is probably dated around 1910.
