Oval miniature on ivory representing the portrait of an energetic man painted in gouache with great finesse. Everything is perfect in terms of quality: the pink complexion, the immaculate tie, the buttons of the shirt and the suit, the perfectly dissiplied hair, the green eyes of great intensity. Signed on the right Barrois and dated 1817. Period rectangular chiseled frame with oval view. Cardboard of the original back with a label mentioning "Barrois Peintre de miniature Rue St Sauveur N ° 17". Dimensions: Miniature only: 16 cm x 12, 5 cm at sight Frame: 29 cm x 25, 5 cm Good condition despite a few spots. The finely carved frame has slits and time marks visible in the photos. Barrois, portrait painter and miniaturist, pupil of Louis Hersent at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts is listed at the address mentioned on the back card in the Almanac of 25,000 addresses in Paris for the year 1816 then in that for year 1817. He exhibited at the Salon from 1806 to 1841 but also in 1812 at the Napoleon Museum then in 1817 at the Royal Museum of Arts, which became the Louvre Museum, his name and address appearing in the booklet, published by the Museum.
