This long repeating weapon is round-barreled, breech marked "Spencer Repeating Rifle Co. Boston Mass." Pat'D. March 6 1860 ”in capital letters, fittings and saddle ring in iron and stock in walnut wood. It is in the latter that the tubular magazine containing the reserve of seven cartridges is housed. One of the sides of the carcass is handwritten.
The Spencer rifle brings two innovations in the history of the long weapon: the loading by the breech and the system of reloading with manual repetition by lever of sub-guard.
