Object description :

"Mourners Of The Mausoleum Of Isabella Of Bourbon, After : Renier Van Thienen"
Mourners of the mausoleum of Isabella of Bourbon, after : Renier van Thienen

Sculpture in the round in a single log of oak wood. Vertical in composition, the mourners are shown standing, looking pensively ahead. With her hands crossed, one of them holds her houppelande. The houppelande is held at the waist by a belt, its collar and long decorative sleeves are trimmed with fur, as is the bottom of the skirt. Under the houppelande appears a dress of which one sees only the tight sleeves, with long fur cuffs. Under which appears a tripod or a sandal. She is wearing a high turban, symmetrically divided by rows of pearls and with a Burgundian cross on the front, which is held under the chin by a veil. Sculpture number 6 after one of the ten bronze mourners from the mausoleum of Isabella of Bourbon (1436-1465) by the workshop of Borman by Renier van Thienen. The number "6" corresponds to the location of the bronze in the Prinsenhof in Amsterdam between 1808 and 1887). Dimensions height 58cm, width 23.6cm.
