Object description :

"Old Persian Tabriz Rug, Iran, 139 Cm X 186 Cm, Hand-knotted Wool, Second Half Of The 19th Century"
Antique Tabriz carpet in hand-knotted wool from Iran and measuring 139 cm x 186 cm long, from the second half of the 19th century and in good condition for lovers of these old pieces.
Beautiful carpet in used condition, slight wear throughout the room.
This carpet is clean, the wool is soft and fine knotted admirably and tightly revealing shades full of contrasts, a central flowered mandorla surrounded by a semi of flowers and abundantly worked borders.
The soft and harmonious shades underline this clever floral design in the great tradition of Persian art, inspired by miniatures from the school of Tabriz, then capital of the Persian Empire.
Tabriz (Azerbaijani: Təbriz / تبریز, formerly Tauris), is the capital of the province of East Azerbaijan, in northwestern Iran (Iranian Azerbaijan).
It lies on the course of the Talkheh River (also called Aji-Chāi), near Lake Urmia, close to the borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia. Tabriz is the gateway to Persia from north to west, Tabriz rugs are of utmost importance in the quality of Persian rugs and a wonderful international fame.
The Tabriz are among the most popular carpets in the world, their work is always very fine and durable over time.
This rug has been professionally cleaned and environmentally friendly.
