Exceptional element of Baroque style woodwork in carved and polychrome wood, decorated with a cherub and a pursuit scene between guards and a robber / poacher. Manufacture from the very beginning of the 19th century. Perimeter of the decoration sculpted in drape adorned with a ribbon of piastres, the whole eventful and surmounted by a gilded acanthus leaf. Central cartridge representing two guards on their mounts pursuing a robber or a poacher hidden in the vegetation. The latter shoots an arrow in the chest of one of the guards. The sculptural details of this scene are truly exceptional. The bottom of our woodwork is adorned with a face of a cherub surrounded by its wings. The whole is fully and beautifully polychrome, the colors have retained all their depth. This woodwork can be presented alone on a wall as a decorative object but it can also be used as a door top, bed canopy, pediment etc ... Magnificent work, origin Switzerland, Germany or Austria, circa 1800. System hook at the back.
