"Bressanes Earrings."
This pair of earrings, in solid silver, adorned with colored enamels and enhanced with gold, come from Bresse. These ear studs are provided with a fixing system ancestor of the alpa system which bears the mention: "PROMIS-MECAN-BREVETE" appeared in the 1920s. Two hallmarks appear on the back of these jewels, one in the shape of a rhombus and the other a crab punch of silver check at 800/1000. Bressan enamels are made exclusively in Bourg en Bresse, they are composed of enamel and fine gold particles, they are set on a frame of gilded metal, silver or gold. According to regional tradition, this craft dates back to the 14th century. They reached their peak in the nineteenth century and jewelry from this craft is an integral part of the regional costume. One or two small gaps are to be noted in the enamel. Period 1930. Diameter 2 cm.
