"Japan - Round Incense Box With Hiramaki-e Decor - Meiji - Late 19th C."
Circular dome shaped lacquered wooden box. The decor is in Hiramaki-e representing a palace on stilts along the coast topped by a majestic tree and clouds. At the back we can see Mount Fuji. The perimeter is decorated with lambrequins patterns containing three cartridges with floral decorations. The interior and the underside are decorated in a "Négoro" style (red and gold lacquer). Very good condition with minor wear and very slight lacks under the base. Dimensions: Diameter: 15 cm; Height: 7.5 cm. Japan - Meiji era (1868-1912) - Late 19th century.
