"Gouache Boats In The Port By Jean Touret (ateliers De Marolles)"
Beautiful gouache by Jean Touret (1916-2004, painter-sculptor), signed lower right, showing moored boats and annexes on the jetty with the masts of sailboats in the background. Slight tear in the lower left corner. Under mat, under glass, in a mahogany chopsticks frame. Dimensions at sight of the gouache 28x37 cm Total dimensions, with frame, 49.5x58 cm. Jean Touret was born on April 7, 1916 in Mayenne. He is preparing to become a small administrative executive in an insurance company in Le Mans, when the war reveals to him his true artistic personality and forges a compelling vision of the world. On his return he began a career as a painter, then turned to woodcarving. He immediately performs monumental spiritual works, which will inhabit a multitude of churches and chapels. All his life he continued his aesthetic research by experimenting with the unconventional use of a multitude of materials: wood, paper. copper, zinc, bronze, plexiglass, ceramic, concrete. He died on January 4, 2004. He left us a generous, demanding and prophetic work.
