The classical modernist still life with a view of the garden was executed ca. in 1930-1950 in the style of the famous Ecole de Paris (in French: Ecole de Paris) by Jeanine Mestchian or Metschian (in Russian: Месчян), the artist of Armenian origin, lived and worked in Paris in the first half of the 20th century. Despite the high standard of our painting, little is known about this artist of the so-called lost generation, very brief references can be found in only one source (artist register by German lexicon AKL by Saur), where Metschian represented as a painter in Paris, last mentioned in 1952. Provenance: private domain in the south of France of ancient Armenian origin.
