Jean Pierre Hick (1931-2012) Belgium Painter, engraver, draftsman, graphic designer, sculptor, self-taught. He took courses at St-Luc in Brussels and at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris. He lived in the Far East and visited South America, Central America, Italy and Yugoslavia. His first exhibition was at the “Breughel” Gallery in Brussels in 1955. He received the Lebon Prize in 1964. Color, rhythm and movement characterize his work. He has a predilection for figures. It will evolve from modernist tendencies towards abstraction and expressionism. He was influenced by Pop Art and the art of frescoes. His subjects are sometimes allegorical. He painted a series of Tributes to Picasso. He has worked and exhibited in Latin America as well as in the Far East.
