"Reliquary Frame Filigree Silver In Its Case 18th Century"
Very beautiful Italian reliquary in a silver filigree frame in its 18th century leather case. Oval frame in filigree silver decorated with flowers, foliage surmounted by a crown, oval central medallion enclosing under glass the relics of Saint Clare and Saint Aloysius. Frame dimensions: 9 cm X 6 cm. Dimensions at sight of the central medallion: 2.8 cm X 2.4 cm. References: Saint Clare (1194-1253 Italy) disciple of Saint Francis of Assisi and founder of the Order of the Poor Ladies (Poor Clares). Saint Aloysius (1568-1591 Italy) is Louis de Gonzague, a Jesuit student who died in the service of the plague victims. This frame has on the back a wax seal under glass, all entirely original. The set is protected by an oval case that can be closed by a box, original green silk interior, exterior brown-fawn leather gilded with iron around the cover with a bouquet of flowers in the center.
