Fine miniature portrait on ivory of a General of the Empire or of the Restoration, Marshal of Camp. early nineteenth century. Dressed in a uniform richly adorned with gold, he wears 3-star epaulettes. The man is elegant, well represented, the face is beautiful with very expressive blue eyes. The miniature is framed in a pomponne pendant frame. Work in ivory, painted more than 120 years before the 1947 Washington Convention and therefore in accordance with the ivory trade regulations.
