"Old Table From 1600"
OIL ON CANVAS - DIMENSIONS 140 X 104 CM "TOBIOLO AND THE ARCHANGEL RAFFAEL" The book, located in the 7th century BC, tells the story of a Jewish family from the Nephtali tribe, deported to Nineveh, made up of Father Tobi, from mother Anna and their son Tobias. In the Latin version of the text the father and the son have the same name, Tobias, so in the Italian tradition the father was called Tobia and the son Tobiolo. Taken prisoner in Assyria during the deportation of the tribes from the kingdom of Israel in 722 BC. During the various events, he loses his heritage and, as a result of an act of charity, also his sight. Sensing his own end approaching, he decides to send his son Tobias in the media to a relative, Gabael, to collect ten talents of silver left in reserve. Before doing this, he gathers in prayer.] Prayers are accepted by God who sends Archangel Raphael to earth. He will introduce himself to Tobias (Tobiolo), in disguise, in the guise of a guide who knows the path well. Thus begins Tobia's journey, in which he will encounter events that will be useful for the healing of his father Tobi. First, the stop at the Tiger, where Tobias is attacked by a fish. In this circumstance, the archangel urges Tobias not to run away and to grab the fish by the head. In doing so, the young man defeats the animal and, always on the advice of the angel, extracts the gall, heart and liver of the fish. Tobia returns to her father. Once at home, again thanks to Raffaele's advice, Tobia spreads the gall of the fish caught during the trip over Tobi's eyes, causing him to regain his sight. It is only at the end of the book that Raffaele shows his true identity.
