BLADE : Strong wallone blade, 2 cutting edges which begin after a short ricasso. Narrow central fuller on the first 26 cm, on each side
Punch mark of swordmaker clear on the inner side, featuring a "S" which can be the one of STANTLER familiy. On the outer side, the punch mark is unclear.
Little chip at 15 cm from the point, which could very easily be removed by a simple restoration, but I have choosen to let it in the original state, because this is a mark of battle.
Of course, the blade has some oxydation. Blade lenght = 78 cm
GUARD : Here is the peculirity of this sword : The baskett hilt is made from a stirrup dating from the early 17th century.. This type of mount is unfrequent.
POMMEL:beautiful heavy pommel, with deep decoration.
GRIP:covered with iron wire filigree. Beetween the lowest part of the grip and the guard, a brass flower with green patina protects the hand.
In conclusion, this sword is a very uncommon wallone, which guard is made of a cavalry stirrup
All the sword is in the original dark brown patina, unrestored, not cleaned. What else should want a serious collector?
