"19th Century Bronze Box"
Beautiful achievement for this solid bronze box weighing 5.5 kgs from the Napoleon III period, Regency style. Extremely solid, it has in its time to protect jewelry, money or other precious objects ... Cover and body molded in ogee, decorated on all sides. The cover is decorated with beautiful bas-relief patterns of interlacing, foliage and flowers with, in its center, a radiant circular medallion with a floral motif. It opens with two hinges also in bronze. The cover cap as well as the four sides are treated in the same way in the Regency style. Foliage patterns at each angle: re-entering on the cover and exiting on the body of the box. The bottom was made in a brass plate and has four small molded feet. Original lock with its working key. Some minimal traces of oxidation, it can be polished more intensely but I prefer to offer it with this patina. The interior has a wooden receptacle with 7 compartments, its bottom has been cut from olive wood, which is not trivial. Note: This box has a profile similar to some 18th century wig boxes. It is also very astonishing by its material, the majority of these metal boxes, at the end of the 19th century, were made out of spun brass. Delivery: 30 € for metropolitan France.
