Tanoux Adrien Henri (1865, 1923)

Student of Bonnat at the School of Fine Arts, his works are tender, sensual and suffused with a slight mannerism; He situates his slaves and his odalisques in landscapes or interiors of dreams, in atmospheres with warm and well-tuned tones where the play of light and shadow occupy an important place. On November 21, 1924, the Jean Charpentier gallery at 76, rue du faubourg saint honoré in Paris opened a retrospective of the works of Adrien Henri Tanoux. This exhibition brought together large canvases and small nudes, including the famous illustration of Alfred de Musset's poem, the famous Namouna, the old slave trader presenting two naked girls with different skin tones. Also included were Perfumes disturbing and Thaïs, which is among his most important works and portraits. We find his works in the small palace in Paris, Marseille and Chambéry but also in town halls and theaters that he decorated with frescoes Tanoux Adrien Henri (1865, 1923) signed and dated 1914, Female nude Canvas of 61 cm by 46 cm Superb old card of 77 cm by 62 cm The artist is one of the masters of the female nude in the beautiful era, he offers us here a nude of great beauty full of delicacy in soft and refined colors, that a superb setting is perfectly useful.
