David Teniers II the Younger (1610-1690) Workshop
Oil on canvas
Important contemporary gilt frame
The canvas measures 45 x 35 frame 70 x 60
Excellent condition
Beautiful interior scene, represented in the most typical Flemish tradition , ready to capture the simplest moments of everyday life. In this case, habitual smokers and drinkers give way to a more unusual scene, where the author describes an intimate moment of a girl who is probably being looked after by her mother before an important date. The old lady washes the elegantly dressed young woman's long hair for the occasion, and the scene is brought to life by an affectionate child with the inevitable little dog. The painting is a typical work of Flemish production which saw David Teniers II and his pupils as the main protagonists, with an endless variety of interior and exterior representations of rural life. The painting is in excellent condition with a splendid contemporary frame in carved and gilded wood.
