Ferdinand Pautrot (1832-1874) was a French sculptor with a distinguished career as an animalier, specialising in bird themes. He produced many refined hunting designs focusing his interests on game birds, such as pheasant, grouse and partridge, and hunting dogs. Ferdinand Pautrot's style is particularly recognisable in the precision he brought to the details of his animals. He exhibited with great success at the Salons from 1861 to 1870.
