Object description :

"Alméry Lobel-riche, Drypoint For "
Alméry Lobel-Riche (Geneva 1877 - Paris 1950): French painter, engraver and illustrator, trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Montpellier then in Paris from 1895. Lobel-Riche is renowned for the finesse of his line and his representations of the world of gallantry.

This drypoint is a condition of one of the illustrations for the Hispanic novel La Maison de danse by Paul Reboux (1877-1963). If the novel dates from 1904, the richly illustrated edition by Lobel-Riche dates from 1928. Note that this is not an illustration removed from a book but a separate print.
