Charming peasant scene representing a mother serving soup to her little girl. In this rustic interior, with deliberately muted colors, there is a lot of warmth and serenity and the mother's caring attitude helps to give a simple but happy atmosphere. A few dots of color, like the brightly hued aprons and the copper milkshake, cleverly enhance this scene. We can also note the subtle release of smoke emanating from the soup tureen as well as the glass bottle on the windowsill, the latter being often used in the artist's compositions.
