HELMET OF OFFICER OF PRUSSIAN GRENADIER, Preußen Pickelhaube für einen Officer in einem Grenadier-Regiment, model 1871-1899, Second Reich. Helmet worn by officers of various Prussian grenadier regiments including the 145th regiment based in Lorraine, the 6. Lothringisches Königs-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 145. Helmet of late manufacture, in relatively fine pressed leather, hot-shaped, fully dressed in the inside of a felt, on the outer side varnished blackened, partially cracked, without lack. Visor strapping ring and all metal fittings in gilded brass, state plate in gilded stamped metal, beautifully striking, representing the crowned Prussian eagle with wide spread wings, banner bearing the motto "MIT GOTT FÜR KOENIG UND VATERLAND" holding in his talons the symbols of power, scepter and sword. Stamped metal cockades specific to the officers in the national and state colors of Prussia. Brown leather chinstrap covered with scalloped scales alternating two and three cut-out brass scallops. Removable smooth tip, beaded groove, and pierced with two ventilation holes, fixed on a round base, held in place by four golden rivets in the shape of a star. Headdress interior composed of a sweatband in brown leather scalloped in its upper part, green colored silk, made of two half-hemispheres covering the head. Label with size "56 1/2". Camouflage cover in feldgrau cotton canvas, stiffeners at the visor and neck cover for good support. "DRP" ink stamps, Deutsches Reichspatent. Very good state of conservation. Germany. Second Reich.
