The sunset landscape with ancient figures and ruins was executed in the 18th century in the style of the world famous French Baroque painter Claude Gellée, dit LE LORRAIN (1600-1682). The painting signed P.de Thiere, it was probably executed by the French etcher and painter Phillipe Thiere (Triere), born in 1756 in Paris, died in 1815.
