The Historical and Biographical Dictionary of Switzerland devotes several pages to this family, widespread in the cantons of Aargau , from Basel, Basel-Country, Bern, Lucerne, Schaffhausen, Unterwald, Uri and Valais.
In the canton of Aargau, the IMHOFFs are reported in Rheinfelden in 1202 and in Zofingue in 1227.
The IMHOFFs of Zofingue bore the following coat of arms: "sable with lion marinated in gold, and silver with three sand diamonds ".
The IMHOFFs are also well represented in the Basel canton where some bearers of the name are mainly devoted to the trade in silks and sheets.

The glas'surface is slightly pink and altered, rough. This suggests a glas composition overloaded with pewter, as could be the productions of the Margeride factory in Auvergne.
The second side is also finely engraved with decorative ornaments.
