Former President of Riedel Glass (1957 to 1994), Claus Joseph Riedel was the ninth generation of the Austrian family business currently run by Maximilian Riedel, the eleventh generation. Claus Joseph Riedel was the first to produce wine-specific glassware, recognizing that the shape of the glass affects the taste of wine. With his creations he won the Grand Prix at the Brussels Exhibition in 1958.
