Jean van Wel (Uccle, 1906 - 1990).
Belgian painter, watercolourist and designer falling within poetic realism but in a post-expressionist style. Its themes are: racetracks, landscapes, urban views and still lifes. He studied at Saint-Luc in Saint-Gilles. Evolves from expressionism towards a poetry reminiscent of Raoul Dufy. His painting is spontaneous and brilliant, with an explosion of bright colors.
Numerous exhibitions at the Manteau Gallery, at the Horizon Gallery.
