"Inlaid Courtesy Box, Ebony, Mother Of Pearl, Flowers, Butterfly, Village, Geometric Prowess"
Collector's or courtesy box, rare and original decoration of rosettes, friezes, checkerboards in circular perspectives, butterflies, bouquet of flowers, house, oratory or calvary surrounded by cypress trees. The corner pilasters, in finely carved ivory with an animal's foot in a console with leafy fall, end with a shoe resting on a sphere. The highly sought-after decor for this room recalls those of Renaissance cabinets, embracing several disciplines: nature, house, religion, geometry and perspectives, and makes it possible to imagine a very learned recipient or sponsor. The interior is in painted wood and fitted out on the side part with a housing covered with a lid, lock with a safe open without a key, hinges probably replaced. Italian work from the 19th century.
