SABER SAID "LIGHTER" OF NCO OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, First Empire. Guard with a branch in gilded brass. Cap with short tail, H 6.9 cm. Wooden handle wrapped in copper filigree calfskin. Brass ferrule. Curved blade with hollow sides, without marking or punch, length 70.5 cm. Scarlet cloth tie. Black patent leather scabbard with two gilded brass fittings. France. First Empire. Fair condition, calfskin on the handle slightly rubbed on the ends, oxidized blade, gilding of the missing button, leather of the scabbard chipped and rubbed on the edges. NOTE: This saber corresponds to the infantry saber of the Imperial Guard but its gilded fittings and its unmarked blade allow us to assign it to a non-commissioned officer.
