Circa 1570/1590 period, Very nice iron system lock for gothic chest, with a lizard in front.
The lock has kept intact its 2 removable wrought iron hooks which allowed it to be attached to the front of the chest (often broken and / or incomplete) The central left hinge is embossed with a lizard and the right one shifts on its lower part to reveal the hidden keyhole.
Sometimes missing on the only facades or on the chests of this period, Gothic locks seek a happy wedding !
Can also perfectly be presented as is as an decoration curiosity or collection item.
Condition: complete with its 2 hooks and lock. I ve preferred kept its geniune patina, but the rusty (unpicked) surface can be cleaned to make it shinier and show the iron.
