"Winter Evening Place De La Concorde."
This charming painting by C. Gasparini represents a view of the Concorde from the Tuileries gardens. A few figures, seated in the foreground, behind the balustrade, are bundled up in their coats. Behind them can be seen one of the eight statues symbolizing the large cities of France and the top of the lampposts that light up the square at night. In the distance, you can see the dome of the Ghent Palace and the first trees that line the start of the Champs Élysées. The light is that of a late winter afternoon, we imagine these mild days when, in good weather, winter ending makes us want to stroll for a few more moments, well covered under the setting sun .
