"Jean Brandy, Fish Dish"
Jean Brandy (1934, Bourg-en-Bresse - 1995, Carros) Studies at the Decorative Arts in Nice since 1951, in the studio of François Bret. Co-founder of the group of “Painters of twenty years”, supported by Jean Cocteau. Winner of the “Jeune Peinture Méditerranéenne” at UMAM between 1958 and 1963. Exhibitions in France and Belgium, with Chubac, Gilli, Raysse, Bépoix, Ischy, Abello, Richard, Roualdès… Illustrations of poems and theater sets for the New Compagnie d'Avignon André Benedetto. Inspiring new elementary data on both sides of the dividing line of contemporary trends, he then developed a unique poetic universe in different periods renewing techniques (oils on canvas, gouaches, drawings, engravings, sands, ceramics ...) and sources of inspiration (nudes, birds, portraits, mythology, Provence…). Numerous personal exhibitions in France and abroad. Also drawing teacher, and author in 1987 of the monumental Way of the Cross which adorns the church of Saint-Auban (Alpes-Maritimes). “Only a major cause (death) will be able to prevent me from painting”: suffering from a serious illness, he continues the creative activity and exhibitions to the end.
