"Religious Folk Art: Gourde-narrative, Ex-voto Of A Pilgrim, 19th Century"
A beautiful gourd, from a very fine-grained hemispherical coloquinte, orange in color, fitted with a tapered iron neck, and two knitted wicker handles. Surface is engraved with a host of nicely drawn notations, recounting the journey of a traveler who made a pilgrimage, adorning his village to the crowing of the rooster, saluting the Calvaries, walking under the sun among flowers and birds, sleeping in places of passage, meeting a dog attached, finally reaching the cathedral…. no name, no date, but what a charm!
Good condition, no flaws apart from part of an incomplete rattan handle. .
