Its founder, Charles Chusseau-Flaviens, was a French photographer active between 1890 and 1910. Based at 46, rue Bayen in Paris, his agency sold and supplied the emerging illustrated press of the time, notably titles such as L'Illustration and The world.
160 photographers from all over the world have contributed to enrich this collection.
The agency disappears during the First World War. The Chusseau-Flaviens collection is kept mainly at the George Eastman House, the D'Orsay museum and the Nicéphore-Niépce museum, which holds around 4,000 press prints from around 40 countries, from the most serious to the most trivial subjects.
