A pair of walrus tusk sculptures (ivory navy) representing two gods of happiness: Benzaiten and Fukurokuju and children on deer (Kintarō?). The figures are depicted in rich robes, holding their attributes in their hands. Benzaiten, the only one of the Seven Gods of Happiness (Shichi-fukujin), a woman is related to the water element and is the protector of beauty, wealth and music. Fukurokuju, a sage with a supernaturally elongated forehead, is the god of longevity, wisdom and happiness. Walrus tusk, sculpted, tinted. Japan, Meiji era (1868-1912). Height 36.5 cm, without the bases 33 cm. Very good state. According to the Washington Convention (CITES), the article is allowed to be marketed because of the time of its creation.
