Young Fisherman And Sea Nymph By Georg Kugler (born 1840 In Vienna) flag

Object description :

"Young Fisherman And Sea Nymph By Georg Kugler (born 1840 In Vienna)"
Young fisherman and sea nymph Amphitrite - this mythological subject comes from the Metamorphoses of the Roman poet Ovid, one of the most popular works of mythology, being the most famous classical work of medieval writers and thus having a great influence on the medieval poetry. Our monumental mythological painting was executed by Austrian historical and genre painter Georg Kugler (1840 - 1916), who was popular for his fairy-tale motifs and allegorical scenes from German history. For comparison, see two additional photos of works by Kugler (one of them is entirely identical to the second version of our painting), which were exhibited for sale at Dorotheum Salzburg, in April 2012. Georg Kugler studied at the Vienna Academy by Joseph Fuehrich, worked as a drawing teacher in Vienna, Sternberg and Iglau.

His work "Bacchante", dated 1890, located at the Franzens-museum in Brno.
